Soar By Joan Bauer

In the book, Soar, by Joan Bauer, the story is about a young boy named Jeremiah who was found when the doctors think he was three months old. He was found in a coffee room in a Computer Laboratory with an eagle stuffed animal. Since it was Walt’s turn to make the coffee,  he found him, and eventually, after some work, became his foster parent. Jeremiah has always loved watching and playing baseball, until one day they find out his heart has problems. He had to get a heart transplant when he was ten years old, and named his new heart Alice. Not being able to run, he can’t play baseball anymore. Suddenly, they temporarily move to Hillcrest, Ohio where baseball is loved. The Hornets are the Hillcrest team, and they aren’t fond of losing, because of their star player, Hargie. When a devastating accident threatens the whole town’s love of baseball, Jeremiah wants to make the town love baseball again by doing something no one would expect him to do, all in order to restore Hillcrest’s love for baseball. Will his idea be able to save Hillcrest’s love for baseball?
